 FOOD – COUNTABLE AND UNCOUNTABLE NOUNS


1. FOOD VOCABULARY

Fruits

1.Apple = manzana
2.Banana = banano
3.Orange = naranja
4.Strawberry = fresa
5.Grape = uva
6.Watermelon = sandía

Vegetables

1.Carrot = zanahoria
2.Potato = papa
3.Tomato = tomate
4.Onion = cebolla
5.Lettuce = lechuga

Other foods

1.Bread = pan
2.Rice = arroz
3.Cheese = queso
4.Meat = carne
5.Chicken = pollo
6.Egg = huevo
7.Pasta = pasta
8.Milk = leche
9.Water = agua
10.Juice = jugo

2. COUNTABLE NOUNS

Countable nouns are things we can count one by one.

-We can say:

1.one apple
2.two apples
3.three eggs
4.four bananas

They can be singular or plural.

Examples:

1.an apple → three apples
2.an egg → five eggs
3.a banana → six bananas
4.a tomato → two tomatoes

Remember:

A / AN = one

1.a banana
2.a tomato
3.an apple
4.an egg

3. UNCOUNTABLE NOUNS

Uncountable nouns are things that we don't usually count one by one.

We don't say:

❌ two breads
❌ three milks
❌ four rices

We say:

1.some bread
2.some milk
3.some rice
4.some cheese
5.some water
6.some juice

Examples:

Countable:
🍎 an apple / two apples

Uncountable:
🥛 some milk

4. SOME

We use SOME with plural countable nouns and uncountable nouns.

Countable:

1.some apples
2.some eggs
3.some bananas

Uncountable:

1.some rice
2.some milk
3.some cheese

Examples:

1.I have some apples.
2.She has some rice.
3.There is some milk in the fridge.
