EL VERBO TO BE

The verb to be means ser or estar.

El verbo to be significa "ser" o "estar".

We use it to talk about people, animals, objects, and feelings.

Lo usamos para hablar de personas, animales, objetos y emociones.

Examples / Ejemplos

• I am happy. → Yo estoy feliz.
• I am a student. → Yo soy estudiante.
• She is my teacher. → Ella es mi profesora.
• He is tall. → Él es alto.
• It is a cat. → Es un gato.
• We are friends. → Nosotros somos amigos.
• They are students. → Ellos son estudiantes.

There is / There are

We use there is to talk about one thing. ( Usamos there is para hablar de una cosa)

Examples:

·       There is a bed in the bedroom.( hay una cama en la habitación)

·       There is a sofa in the living room.( hay un sofa en la sala de estar)

·       There is a table in the dining room. ( hay una mesa en el comedor)

We use there are to talk about two or more things.(usamos there are para hablar de dos o más cosas)

Examples:

·       There are two chairs in the kitchen.( hay dos sillas en la cocina)

·       There are four windows in the house. ( hay cuatro ventanas en la casa)

·       There are three books on the desk.( hay tres libros en el escritorio)

 There is y there are significan " Hay " there is es singular y there are plural.
