PRACTICING THE PAST SIMPLE ( VERB TO BE - REGULAR VERBS)

 


Good morning my dear students today we are going to continue explaining about past simple:

ACTIVITIES FOR "WAS/WERE":

1.   1.Say if it is correct or incorrect

Example:

  • He was happy yesterday.
  • They was at school.
  • We were late.
  • I were hungry.

1.  She were at the park yesterday.

2.  They were in the library.

3.  I was at the movie theater.

4.  You was very tired.

5.  We was in class last Monday.

6.  He was my best friend in fifth grade.

7.  It were very cold last night.

8.  The dogs were hungry.

9.  My mom and dad was at work.

10.              I were sick last weekend.

2. Complete with was/were:

1.  I _______ tired.

2.  You _______ at the party.

3.  He _______ in the park.

4.  They _______ not happy.

 

3. Make questions using verb to be in past

 Was she at home?

 Were they sad?

 

 ACTIVITIES FOR REGULAR VERBS

1. write the past form from the next verbs:

  • play
  • walk
  • study
  • clean
  • watch
  • wash
  • talk
  • listen

 

2. Write negative sentences:

  •   I didn’t watch TV.
  •  She didn’t play tennis.

 

3. Students write 3 things they did yesterday using regular past verbs:

Examples:

  • I cleaned my room.
  • I played soccer.
  • I studied for the test.

4. Create a table or dice with:

  • Subjects (I, You, He, etc.)
  • Verbs (walk, clean, play, etc.)
  • Time expressions (yesterday, last night, etc.)

5.  Underline or choose the correct verb in context:

  • He (was / played) soccer yesterday.
  • They (were / cleaned) the classroom.
  • I (was / walked) in the park.
  • She (watched / were) a movie.
