VALENTINE´S DAY
February 14th is Valentine’s Day, Lovers’ Day or Friendship Day. Each place has adopted different names, but what is the origin of this celebration?
According to tradition, this festivity, which has been accepted by the Catholic Church, dates back to the first centuries in Rome, where a priest named Valentine married the soldiers with their maidens challenging the order of Emperor Claudius II which prohibited professional soldiers from marrying because he considered that single people without a family were better soldiers, without ties or sentimental burdens
Valentin risked his life to unite couples in marriage. When the emperor found out, he had him beheaded.
That’s why Valentine is the patron saint of lovers.
