ZERO AND FIRST CONDITIONAL

GOOD MORNING MY DEAR KIDS, TODAY WE ARE GOING TO CONTINUE WITH THE ZERO AND FIRST CONDITIONAL.

ON YOUR NOTEBOOK:

 Part 1: Understanding Conditionals

A. Zero Conditional

The zero conditional is used for general truths or facts. It follows the structure:

If + present simple, present simple.

Examples:

- If you heat ice, it melts.

- If it rains, the ground gets wet.

B. First Conditional

The first conditional is used for real and possible situations. It follows the structure:

If + present simple, will + base verb.

Examples:

- If it rains tomorrow, I will take an umbrella.

- If you study hard, you will pass the exam.

Part 2: Fill in the Blanks

Complete the sentences using the correct form of the verbs in parentheses. Use either the zero or first conditional.

1. If you (mix) red and blue, you (get) purple. (Zero Conditional)

2. If it (be) sunny tomorrow, we (go) to the beach. (First Conditional)

3. If you (freeze) water, it (turn) into ice. (Zero Conditional)

4. If my friends (invite) me, I (join) their game. (First Conditional)

5. If you (touch) a flame, it (burn) you. (Zero Conditional)

6. If I (not finish) my homework, I (not go) out tonight. (First Conditional)

Part 4: Create Your Own Sentences

Write two sentences for each conditional: one using the zero conditional and one using the first conditional.

1. Zero Conditional: _______________________________________________________

   First Conditional: ______________________________________________________

2. Zero Conditional: _______________________________________________________

   First Conditional: ______________________________________________________

Part 5: Group Activity

In small groups, discuss these scenarios. Use the first conditional to create sentences.
